President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday officially swore in Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) during a brief ceremony at the State House in Abuja.
Enitan, previously the nation’s most senior Permanent Secretary, was appointed on August 19, 2026, succeeding Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack following her retirement at the mandatory age of 60.
During the event, President Tinubu congratulated the new administrative chief and charged him to lead the civil service with an uncompromising commitment to professionalism, integrity, accountability, and efficiency.
The swearing-in was attended by key figures, including the outgoing Head of Service and her husband, Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack; the new appointee’s wife, Mrs. Olawunmi Ololade Enitan; and the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Peter Fashedemi.
Born on December 12, 1966, the Osun State indigene holds a bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos and a master’s degree in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Enitan’s civil service career spans nearly three decades, beginning in 1998 as a Senior Operations Officer with the defunct Family Economic Advancement Programme.
He later worked in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs before moving to the Office of the Vice President, where he rose from Chief Administrative Officer to Director between 2010 and 2018.
Following his promotion to Permanent Secretary in December 2018, Enitan served across several key portfolios—including the Federal Civil Service Commission, Environment, Police Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and Education—before his elevation to the top civil service role.
