Bola Tinubu, President of Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria is jetting out to N’Djamena, Republic of Chad, to attend the inauguration of President Mahamat Deby.
Tinubu, who has travelled out of the country several times since becoming president in May 2023, is flying out to Chad on Thursday.
Ajuri Ngelale, spokesman of the president says the inauguration of President Deby follows his declaration as the winner of the country’s presidential election earlier this month and subsequent affirmation by the Constitutional Court of Chad.
He says Tinubu will be accompanied on the trip by senior government officials and will return after the ceremony.
Deby, a Chadian politician and military officer has been the leader of Chad since 2021, first as President of the Transitional Military Council from 2021 to 2022, then as Transitional President from 2022 to 2024, and then as the 7th President since 2024 following his victory in the presidential elections.
