President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointments of NTA Director-General Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos and NAN Managing Director Ali Mohammed Ali for another three-year term.
Their second tenure will commence on October 20, 2026, following the completion of their initial three-year appointments, which began on October 20, 2023.
The development was announced on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Dembos, an indigene of Yola, Adamawa State, is a veteran broadcaster and former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).
He joined the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station in 1989 after completing his National Youth Service and subsequently rose through the ranks.
He served as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano before becoming Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre, from where he retired in 2017.
Following his retirement, Dembos returned to the NTA as Executive Director of Marketing.
Ali, meanwhile, is a veteran journalist and media manager with more than 30 years of experience in the media industry.
He has a particular interest in the evolution of the media and content development in the digital era, with a focus on meeting the information needs of a diverse population through alternative news platforms.
Ali holds a first degree in English from Bayero University, Kano, a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Bayero University, Kano.
In renewing their appointments, Tinubu urged both chief executives to justify the confidence placed in them by remaining committed to the mandates of their respective organisations.
The President also charged them to continue supporting the promotion of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The renewed appointments will extend the tenure of Dembos and Ali to October 20, 2029.
