The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted media reports claiming that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is in its custody.
Contrary to these reports, the EFCC has clarified that Bello is not currently detained by the Commission.
This is contained in a statement issued by EFCC’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale on Wednesday.
Bello, who has been declared wanted by the EFCC, faces serious allegations of money laundering amounting to N80.2 billion.
Despite the reports suggesting his detention, the Commission confirms that there is an active warrant for his arrest, and he remains a fugitive.
The Commission’s statement aims to correct any misinformation circulating regarding Bello’s status.
