President Bola Tinubu has described Friday’s tragic school building collapse in Plateau State which killed 22 students so far as devastating.
The two-storey building housing Saint Academy in Jos had collapsed on Friday morning with over 150 students and others trapped, with 22 reportedly dead so far.
Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale said he received the news of the tragic collapse of a school building, which resulted in multiple deaths and many surviving victims in Jos, Plateau State, with profound grief.
Tinubu described the unfortunate incident as a huge loss to the nation, as well as a devastating development too excruciating to imagine.
The President condoled with the bereaved families, families of all the victims, and the people and Government of Plateau State.

Tinubu commended emergency responders, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), security agencies, and all citizens involved in the search, rescue, and resuscitation efforts.
He assured the people of Plateau State of his fervent support at this difficult time.
Plateau Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms, while giving update on the collapse late Friday evening confirmed that the death toll had risen to 22 from 17.
He said the state government expressed its deepest condolences following the tragic building collapse at Saint Academy, saying the collapse resulted in 154 fatalities and injuries, as emergency responders were currently at the scene conducting search and rescue operations.
The commissioner said the current situation as of 6pm, showed that 154 people had been rescued from the debris, while 22 individuals had been confirmed dead, adding that injured students and staff were receiving medical treatment at various hospitals across Jos.
