A two-storey building has reportedly collapsed in Kubwa, the nation’s federal capital, Abuja, with many people reportedly trapped.
The building was said to have collapsed around 7.00am on Saturday.
Emergency responders are said to be working frantically to rescue those trapped under the debris.
An eyewitness, Mrs Ella Onyeke told NTA that a man had left the building on Friday night with his family after he said he noticed some cracks.
She said “At about 5.ooam this morning, some people living there said the building started bending. Some of them left and tried to notify others who are living there, they knocked at their doors but they did not answer.
“Some of them left before the building collapsed and some are still inside. 7.00am this morning, is actually the time the incident happened. So, we are still praying for this lady call Melany, a youth corps member to come out safe and sound. I saw four people rescued so far but this lady is still inside, a corper, they are trying their best to bring her out.”
The collapse is coming a day after a two-storey school building collapsed in Jos, Plateau State killing 22 students and hundreds hospitalised.
