Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has expressed gratitude following her appointment as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, describing the development as an honour and a call to greater national service.
In a statement shared on Thursday, Ojukwu confirmed that she was appointed on April 29, 2026, by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that she was “truly honoured” to assume the role.
She conveyed her appreciation to the President for the confidence reposed in her, noting that she was “truly humbled” by the trust placed in her abilities at a critical time in Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements.
The newly appointed minister pledged to align her efforts with the administration’s foreign policy direction, particularly the 4D Foreign Policy Priorities under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
She also signalled her intention to strengthen Nigeria’s citizen diplomacy drive as part of broader efforts to reposition the country’s global standing.
Ojukwu assured Nigerians of her commitment to advancing the nation’s interests on the international stage, promising to contribute meaningfully to the success of the government’s diplomatic objectives.
