Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has endorsed Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite previously being among aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.
Ambode, in a statement issued on Thursday, congratulated Hamzat on his emergence, describing him as a loyal party man whose adoption reflects years of dedication, hard work and commitment to the ideals of the APC.
He noted that Hamzat’s consultations with party leaders and stakeholders demonstrated his alignment with the values of unity and progress, expressing confidence that Lagos State would benefit from his experience and governance skills.
The former governor also reaffirmed his support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, linking the continued prosperity of Lagos and Nigeria to the President’s leadership and policy direction.
Ambode stated that members of the party were prepared to mobilise support for decisive victories at both state and federal levels, adding that Lagos APC would target at least three million votes for the President while supporting strong outcomes across the South-West.
He further called for unity within the party, urging members to work collectively to secure electoral success and return APC candidates to key positions, including the National Assembly.
Ambode expressed optimism about the future of Lagos and Nigeria, saying the “best days” of both were still ahead, while invoking divine support for the party and the country.
