President Bola Tinubu met with His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace in London on Wednesday, reinforcing the deep and historic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
This marks the first meeting between the two leaders since their last encounter at the COP 28 Climate Summit in Dubai.
The latest meeting, held at the request of King Charles III, focused on shared global and regional priorities, particularly the pressing issue of climate change.
Discussions between President Tinubu and the King centered on potential collaborations ahead of the COP 29 Summit in Azerbaijan and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa.
The conversation emphasized the importance of cooperative efforts to tackle climate challenges.
President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to addressing climate change while balancing the nation’s energy security needs. He also expressed Nigeria’s readiness to embrace global sustainability strategies.
The two leaders explored innovative climate financing and funding approaches, underscoring their shared interest in leveraging Nigeria’s leadership role within Africa and the Commonwealth to strengthen partnerships.
