It was heartbreaking for England on Sunday as Spain defeated them 2-1 to win Euro 2024 to emerge champions of Europe for the fourth time.
The Alarmee reports that Spain scored a late goal in the 86th minute to wreak England. Marc Cucurella was the provider as he gave the ball to Mikel Oyarzabal who scored from close range.
Spain had deservedly taken the lead few minutes after the restart. Spain’s wizkid, Lamine Yamal provided the assist to Nico Williams inside the box to hit the ball into the bottom right corner of the post.
England equalised past mid-way into the second half after substitute, Cole Palmer kept them in the game with a superb strike.
Jude Bellingham provided Palmer with the assist after a clever pass. He stepped inside his man on the edge of the box and shot into the bottom left corner.
In the 90th minute, England wasted big opportunity. Declan Rice peeled away from his marker and got on the end of the resulting corner, but he sent his header straight at the goalkeeper.
Marc Guehi produced a header from a rebound inside the six-yard box. His effort was denied by one of the defenders who was well positioned and cleared the ball to safety.
Rice collected a rebound near the penalty spot, and powered a header narrowly over the bar.
