Acting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the governor of Ondo State on Wednesday after the death of the former, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Akeredolu died on Tuesday night in Germany after battling Leukemia for months.
Aiyedatiwa was sworn in by the Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, at the Cocoa Conference Hall in the governor’s office in Akure, the state capital on Wednesday evening.
Speaking after he was sworn-in, the new governor said he accepted the responsibility with a heavy heart following the death of Akeredolu.
According to him, today’s event placed a burden on everyone to stay together as one “because we have to onerous responsibility to continue to sustain the legacies of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, which was good governance.”
He added: “We now have the responsibility to complete them. It is necessary for us to acknowledge with pride, the wonderful achievements and legacies of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON.”
