Gunmen have shot a police inspector dead in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, South-South Nigeria.
The unidentified inspector was said to have been shot dead on Friday around Landmark Hotel, Off Olu Obasanjo road in Port Harcourt.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of the inspector, saying it has begun a manhunt for the killers.
Its spokeswoman, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the inspector, attached to the Department of Operation, Yenagoa, Bayelsa, was shot in the head by the gunmen.
The Alarmee reports that the remains of the slain policeman had been deposited at the morgue of the military hospital for autopsy to be carried out.
