Former Minister of Transportation and Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has lost his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi Media Office, the family announced that the matriarch passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 89.
The statement described the late Mrs. Amaechi as a cherished matriarch whose love, wisdom and unwavering commitment to family fostered unity, peace and harmony among her children and relatives.
She was also celebrated as a respected community women’s leader and a devoted Christian whose steadfast faith in God guided her life and service to others.
According to the family, Mrs. Amaechi earned the admiration of many within and beyond her community for her warmth, kindness, compassion and readiness to support those in need.
The statement noted that her legacy of selfless service, strong values and dedication to humanity would continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Amaechi and members of his family expressed profound appreciation for the outpouring of condolences, prayers and support already received from friends, associates, supporters and well-wishers following the loss.
The family said details of the funeral arrangements would be announced in due course, while appealing for continued prayers during this period of mourning.
