President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Yokohama, Japan, for Brazil, on Thursday evening, where he is scheduled to commence a state visit in Brasília on August 24.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the Nigerian leader’s ultra-long-haul journey includes a brief stopover in Los Angeles, USA, before continuing to the Brazilian capital.
President Tinubu’s two-nation diplomatic tour began on August 15, when he departed Abuja, Nigeria, with a stopover in Dubai, UAE, before arriving in Yokohama early on August 18.
His visit to Japan centered on high-level engagements, including participation in the opening ceremony and plenary session of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD9) on August 20.
The conference provided a platform for strengthening Africa-Japan relations and advancing Nigeria’s development priorities.
During his stay, President Tinubu held several bilateral meetings with key stakeholders, fostering diplomatic and economic ties.
His visit culminated in a heartfelt interactive session with Nigerians in the diaspora on Thursday evening, reinforcing connections with the global Nigerian community.
According to Onanuga, the state visit to Brazil is expected to further Nigeria’s international partnerships, with discussions likely focusing on trade, investment, and regional cooperation.
President Tinubu’s itinerary reflects Nigeria’s commitment to deepening global alliances and promoting sustainable development.
