President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Sunday for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit at the invitation of Brazilian President and current G20 Chair, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
According to a statement from the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the Summit, scheduled for Monday, November 18, and Tuesday, November 19, will convene leaders from the world’s 20 largest economies, including the European Union, African Union, and leading multilateral financial institutions.

He emphasised Nigeria’s consistent advocacy for reforms in global governance and reiterated the country’s aspiration for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
President Tinubu is also expected to engage in bilateral meetings during the Summit to further Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms.
“He will be accompanied by top government officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha; Minister of Art, Tourism, Culture, and Creativity, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed,” Onanuga added.
