President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero said on Tuesday that he did not appear before the police to answer questions on allegation of terrorism financing because the invitation came late.
The Alarmee reports that the police had sent an invitation letter to the NLC President on Monday to appear before them to answer questions on allegation of terrorism financing and others.
Ajaero, through his lawyer, Falana Chamber, said he only received the invitation on Monday asking him to appear on Tuesday.
According to Falana Chamber, in a letter to the police, Ajaero has an engagement that had been fixed before the receipt of the invitation letter.
The chamber said Ajaero is, however, prepared for the police interview on Wednesday, August 29, 2024.
The Chamber said in accordance with the provisions of Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as altered, Ajaero requested the details and nature of the allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime levelled against him.
“While awaiting your positive response to this letter, please accept the assurances of our highest esteem,” the Chamber said.
