Bernard Sang of Kenya on Saturday won the 2024 Lagos City Marathon at a time of two hours, 16 minutes, and 49 seconds to take home the star prize of $50,000.
Sang bettered his 2023 performance in the same race where he came third.
The second place winner is Simon Cheprot from Kenya, while Edwin Kiptoo from Kenya came third. While Cheprot took home $40,000, Kiptoo won $30,000.
Shehu Muazu was the first Nigerian to get to the finish line at the Lagos City Marathon and won a prize of N1 million.
Twenty-five-year old Kebene Chala of Ethiopia was the first woman to get to the finish line at the 2024 Lagos City Marathon and took home $50,000.
The Alarmee reports that the winners of both the men’s and women’s races qualified for the marathon event at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
