The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the final of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire after defeating the Bafana Bafana of South Africa 4-2 on penalties.
Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali was the hero of the day as he saved two penalty kicks.
The match had ended 1-1 after 120 minutes. Penalty shootouts had to be played to determine who qualified for the final and the Super Eagles carried the day.
Williams Troost-Ekong had scored Eagles first goal from the penalty spot in the second half after striker Victor Osimhen was brought down in the box.
The match was heading in favour of Nigeria when the South Africans got a penalty in the 90th minute.
Teboho Mokoena converted the penalty to make t 1-1 and dragged the match into extra time.
