The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo has been impeached by members of the House over gross misconduct.
Already, a member of the House, Oludaisi Elemide has been named as the new Speaker.
The new Speaker is from Odeda State Constituency.
The Alarmee reports that out of the 26 members, 18 voted in favour of Oluomo’s impeachment, citing charges of embezzlement, haughtiness, and other offenses.
Oluomo was first made Speaker of the House in 2019 and was re-elected in 2023 by the lawmakers.
He was sometimes ago arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and was later released.
