The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of a section of the popular Eko Bridge for 40 days to allow for the repair of defective parts.
A statement from the Lagos Ministry of Transportation issued by the Permanent Secretary, Abdulahfiz Toriola, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing on Friday, said the temporary closure would be the Alaka/Costain – Iganmu section of the Eko Bridge (Inward Island).
The government said the closure would begin on Sunday, 23rd July, 2023.
According to the statement, the closure was as a result of the damage noticed on some parts of the bridge structures which needed to be urgently rehabilitated to restore the integrity of the bridge.
The state government disclosed that the Service Lane of the bridge leading to Iponri would be available for motorists plying the route from Western Avenue and its environs.
“While appreciating Motorists for their usual cooperation, they are also advised to cooperate with the Traffic-Management Personnel deployed to guide them through their desired destinations,” it stated.
