President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday, for a strategic two-nation visit to Japan and Brazil, aiming to strengthen economic and diplomatic relations.
The journey begins with a stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before proceeding to Japan for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), scheduled from August 20 to 22 in Yokohama, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga said in a statement on Wednesday.
Under the theme “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” TICAD9 will focus on driving Africa’s economic transformation through private investment, innovation, and building resilient, sustainable societies for human security, peace, and stability.
He stated that President Tinubu will participate in plenary sessions and hold bilateral meetings, engaging with CEOs of Japanese firms invested in Nigeria.
Launched in 1993 by Japan and co-hosted with the United Nations, UNDP, African Union Commission, and World Bank, TICAD fosters high-level dialogue with African leaders.
Following TICAD9, Tinubu will travel to Brasilia on August 24-25 for a state visit, invited by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
He will conduct bilateral talks and attend a business forum to explore investment opportunities, accompanied by key ministers to sign agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Brazil.
