President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana following a devastating military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of eight individuals, including Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Environment Minister, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, marking a significant loss for the nation.
In a statement issued from the State House, President Tinubu conveyed Nigeria’s solidarity, assuring President Mahama that the thoughts and prayers of the Nigerian government and its citizens are with Ghana during this period of national mourning.
The crash, which occurred on Wednesday morning in the Adansi Akrofuom District, involved a Z-9 military helicopter en route to Obuasi for a national event, as reported by the Ghana Armed Forces.
President Tinubu urged Ghanaians and the bereaved families to find solace in the legacy of the deceased, noting that they perished in dedicated service to their country.
“Their sacrifice in the line of patriotic duty will not be forgotten,” he said, praying for the eternal rest of the departed and resilience for those grieving their loss.
The Nigerian leader’s message underscores the deep ties between Nigeria and Ghana, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting each other in times of crisis.
