In a significant escalation of hostilities, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced the elimination of key figures within Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Air Force during a targeted airstrike on an underground command centre.
According to the IDF, Israeli Air Force (IAF) fighter jets struck the facility after intelligence confirmed that senior IRGC Air Force leadership had convened there to coordinate a potential attack against Israel.
The Alarmee reports that among those killed in the strike was Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the Commander of the IRGC’s Air Force and a central figure in Iran’s missile and drone operations.
Also eliminated were Commander of the UAV Force, Taher-pour, and Commander of the Aerial Command, Davoud Shaykhian.
The operation, guided by Israel’s Intelligence Directorate, marks a major blow to Iran’s aerial military capabilities.
The IDF described the gathering of top IRGC Air Force personnel in the underground bunker as a key strategic opportunity to disrupt imminent threats to national security.
This targeted strike follows a period of mounting tensions between the two nations and comes amid broader regional concerns over Iranian military activity and its proxies across the Middle East.
Israeli officials have yet to comment further on the scope of the operation, but military analysts see the killing of Hajizadeh—a long-time architect of Iran’s missile programme—as a major turning point with potential ramifications across the region.
