President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly air collision in Washington, D.C., offering condolences to the families of the victims and the people of the United States.
In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Tinubu described the incident as a profound tragedy and extended Nigeria’s sympathies to all those affected.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident in Washington, D.C.,” Tinubu wrote. “On behalf of Nigeria, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of the United States, and all affected by this profound loss.”
The president also acknowledged the swift response of emergency teams, commending their dedication despite the difficult conditions in which they operated.
“I commend the courageous efforts of first responders and emergency teams for their selfless work in harsh conditions,” he added.
Reaffirming Nigeria’s support for the U.S. during this difficult time, Tinubu assured that the two nations stand together in grief and resilience.
“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States Government and its People, united in grief and hopeful for a new day,” he concluded.
