President Bola Tinubu made a dramatic return to Nigeria on Saturday, touching down at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after a two-week vacation in London.
The nation’s eyes were on the president as he stepped off the plane, met by a high-profile delegation from the Federal Executive Council.
In a show of power and unity, key figures, including Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Abubakar Bagudu, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance Minister Wale Edun, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, gathered at the airport to receive the president.
Tinubu’s trip to the UK, which began on October 2, had been billed as a working vacation — not just a holiday but a chance to reflect and strategise on the future of Nigeria’s economic reforms.
His absence had stirred anticipation across the country, as many wondered what new directions the president might take upon his return.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga had announced Tinubu’s trip with a sense of purpose, stating, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will embark on a two-week vacation to the United Kingdom, using this time as both rest and reflection on his administration’s economic reforms. He will return after the leave expires.”
Now back on home soil, Tinubu faces a nation eager for action, as his government navigates the challenges of economic recovery and national security.
