Donald Trump, former United States President has been convicted on all 34 counts in the historic hush money trial in New York.
Judge Juan Merchan set a sentencing hearing for July 11.
The Alarmee reports that the former president has described his conviction as a disgrace, saying he would fight to the end, adding that the real verdict would be November 5 when Americans would vote for him.
The CNN reports that prosecutors accused Trump of taking part in an illegal conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 presidential election and an unlawful plan to suppress negative information, which included concealing a hush money payment to an adult film star.
Trump attorney Todd Blanche moved for an acquittal of the charges, not withstanding the verdict.
Blanche said there’s no way the jury could’ve reached the verdict without the testimony of Michael Cohen, and that the defense believed Cohen committed perjury at this trial.
Judge Juan Merchan denied the acquittal motion.
Trump said the “real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people,” referring to the general election.
“They know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here,” he said.
He railed against the Manhattan District Attorney and the Biden administration, which he falsely claimed influenced the case, CNN reports.
Trump said the trial was a rigged one. “We didn’t do a thing wrong. I’m a very innocent man,” Trump added.
