The Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated host Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to brighten their chances of qualifying for the next stage.
Williams Troost-Ekong scored from the penalty spot to give the Eagles the needed win after they drew their opening match against Equatorial Guinea 1-1.
Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen was brought down by the Ivoirians in the 55th minutes of the match and Troost-Ekong stepped forward and ramped a terrific shot inside the net, with the goalkeeper having no chance.
The Alarmee reports that Osimhen had earlier in the first half missed a glaring chance to score for Nigeria but fired the ball across the bar.
