Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has again vowed to demolish buildings without approval in the nation’s capital.
Wike spoke when he visited the scene of a collapsed building on Thursday in Abuja.
He told newsmen that the government did not hate anybody, saying all that the government had been saying was that the proper thing should be done.
“This is what we are saying: any building without approval will go down. We don’t hate anybody. All we are saying is the proper thing should be done.” Wike said.
Earlier, the Director General, Federal Emergency Management Authority (FEMA), Dr Abbass Idriss, confirmed that 37 people had been rescued, while two were fatally injured.
“Thirty-seven persons were rescued, while two others were fatally injured. Meanwhile, FEMA Search and Rescue team are awaiting excavators to intensify the search to ensure that no victim is left in the rubble of the collapsed building,” he said.
The Alarmee reports that a two-storey building collapsed at the Lagos Crescent, in Garki 2, Abuja, on Wednesday, at about 11.30pm, following a heavy downpour.
