Officials of the Lagos State Taskforce stormed Agege railway line on Sunday and dislodged traders who have converted the rail tracks to market.
The traders were caught unaware by the taskforce who came with trucks and fully armed.
They carted away fridges, deep freezers, furniture and other wares being displayed on the rail tracks by unscrupulous traders.
CSP Shola Jejeloye, Taskforce chief said the exercise was designed to restore sanity along the railway corridors in the state.
According to him the move was to stop people transacting businesses on the rail track which is very dangerous and could lead to loss of lives.
He lamented that the activities of the traders were defacing the outlook of the rail tracks by setting up slums and makeshift buildings, adding that the taskforce would make sure that it left no form of environmental crimes unchecked.
Jejeloye said the agency had made an irreversible decision to carry out operations and remain on the rail tracks to discourage traders from returning.
He added that this singular operation was just a tip of the iceberg but that the major activities are coming up in the coming weeks.
The taskforce chief stated that the exercise would be sustained to ensure that there is sanity at rail corridors in Lagos.
