Music superstar, Davido has pledged a donation of $10,000 to the woman who returned missing $70,000 to a customer at Eko Hotel and Suites.
The woman, Kekwaaru Ngozi Mary, a staff of Eko Hotel and Suites had returned misplaced $70,000 to a customer in Lagos.
Davido, on his Twitter handle posted a tweet by ‘Dami Adenuga, in he drew everyone’s attention to the woman’s honesty in returning the money, and wrote: “Find her for me … I donate $10k.”
Davido had few days ago donated N237 million to orphanage homes in the country.
Davido took to his Twitter handle to share the good news to his teeming fans.
He said he had always wanted to use his platform to serve others, which he said led to the donation of the funds through his foundation.
He wrote: “I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful, that through your generousity, I’ve been able to do so.
“We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday. Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives.
“This is what I mean when I say We rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all!”
Kekwaaru, after her feat of honesty was reported, has been hailed by Nigerians.
One of those who hailed her honesty was Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party. He said people like her deserved to be given award and not those who projected the nation negatively.
In a tweet, Obi wrote: “It is heartwarming and reassuring that despite the hardship in the country and the prevailing moral decadence in society, a staff of Eko Hotel and Suites, Kekwaaru Ngozi Mary, was reported to have returned a misplaced sum of $70,000 to a customer of the hotel in Lagos.
“When will Nigeria start celebrating the likes of Miss Ngozi Mary for her honesty and integrity, Teacher Akeem Badru, for winning the 2023 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Award, and many others like them?
“These are the people who deserve to be given national honours and awards and recognition, instead of celebrating those who have impacted our nation negatively. In the New Nigeria that we desire, these are the kind of people that will be celebrated. A New Nigeria is POssible.”
