Real Madrid delivered a ruthless second-half performance to overpower Real Sociedad 4–1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Friday night, underlining their title credentials in Round 24 of LaLiga.
The hosts wasted little time asserting control. Gonzalo García opened the scoring in the fifth minute, latching onto a precise lofted pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold before firing into the bottom corner.
Real Sociedad responded with resilience. Mikel Oyarzabal equalised from the penalty spot in the 21st minute after Dean Huijsen was adjudged to have fouled inside the area. But parity was short-lived.
Vinícius Júnior restored Madrid’s lead from the spot four minutes later following a clumsy challenge by Jon Aramburu.
Federico Valverde then extended the advantage in the 31st minute with a stunning strike into the top corner, giving Madrid a 3–1 cushion at the break.
The decisive moment came early in the second half. Another defensive error handed Madrid a second penalty, and Vinícius calmly converted in the 48th minute, sending goalkeeper Alex Remiro the wrong way to make it 4–1.
Sociedad briefly threatened to reduce the deficit, with Orri Óskarsson having a goal ruled out for offside, while a late Vinícius effort was also chalked off. But Madrid’s dominance in possession and control ensured the match ended comfortably in their favour.
The victory strengthens Madrid’s grip near the summit of the table, while Sociedad’s defensive lapses proved costly in a high-stakes encounter that showcased Madrid’s attacking depth and clinical edge.
