President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, in a fresh cabinet reshuffle that also reassigns Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
In a letter addressed to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the President formally conveyed Oyedele’s nomination for confirmation by the upper legislative chamber.
The development will see Uzoka-Anite assume office as Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, marking her third portfolio under the Tinubu administration.
Oyedele, a native of Ikaram-Akoko in Ondo State, is widely regarded as one of the key architects of Nigeria’s ongoing fiscal reforms.
Until his nomination, he served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led a sweeping overhaul of the country’s tax system aimed at broadening the revenue base, simplifying compliance, and strengthening fiscal sustainability.
At 50, Oyedele brings a blend of academic depth and private sector experience to the role. An economist, chartered accountant and public policy expert, he holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He further sharpened his expertise through executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Before his appointment, Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, where he joined in 2001 and rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
His work at the global professional services firm positioned him at the forefront of tax advisory and fiscal policy design across multiple African jurisdictions.
Beyond his corporate career, Oyedele is a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School, underscoring his engagement with academia and policy thought leadership.
