In a move to bolster his administration’s cabinet, President Bola Tinubu has submitted the name of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro, a seasoned healthcare professional from Plateau State, to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic.
This is contained in a statement issued by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday.
The Alarmee reports that the nomination comes in the wake of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda’s recent ascent to the chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July. Yilwatda, who previously held the portfolio of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, stepped down to take on his new party leadership role, creating the vacancy now earmarked for Dr. Doro.
A native of Kwall in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro was born on January 23, 1969.
He brings more than two decades of expertise spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community outreach, honed through roles in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
His academic credentials are equally robust: dual degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA emphasizing IT-driven business strategies, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
As an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Dr. Doro has frontline experience in diverse settings, including urgent care units, walk-in centers, general practitioner clinics, and hospitals.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Doro has championed youth mentorship programs and social impact projects, bridging diaspora networks with grassroots efforts in local communities.
The nomination underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to injecting fresh, multifaceted talent into key governmental positions, particularly in states pivotal to the APC’s national footprint.
