Nigeria’s D’Tigress have secured their place in the AfroBasket Women’s Championship final, extending their decade-long unbeaten streak with a thrilling 75-68 victory over Senegal in the semifinals on Saturday in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigerian women’s basketball team showcased their resilience, overturning an eight-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to win by seven points in a match that electrified fans.
The game saw Senegal take control early, leveraging their physicality and home-crowd support to lead 53-45 at the start of the final quarter.
However, D’Tigress, renowned for their tenacity and tactical discipline, mounted a ferocious comeback. Led by stellar performances from their key players, Nigeria outscored Senegal 30-15 in the fourth quarter, sealing a hard-fought victory and reinforcing their dominance on the African basketball stage.
