Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Afenifere leader, Pa Ayodele Adebanjo, hailing him as a fearless crusader for justice and a towering symbol of resilience.
In an emotional tribute on Friday, Jonathan described the 96-year-old elder statesman as an unwavering advocate for democracy and the rights of the common man, whose influence shaped Nigeria’s political landscape.
“Chief Adebanjo was more than a leader; he was a national hero who dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice, equity, and good governance,” Jonathan stated.
“His courage and unwavering principles made him a force to be reckoned with, and he remained relentless in his fight for a better Nigeria till his last breath.”
The former president lamented that Adebanjo’s passing leaves a void in the struggle for a just and united nation, calling on Nigerians to honour his legacy by continuing the fight for democracy and national unity.
As the nation mourns, Jonathan extended his deepest condolences to Adebanjo’s family and admirers, praying for the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
