At least 500 people have reportedly been killed in a hospital in Gaza following Israeli’s air strike on Tuesday.
The Gaza health ministry spokesman disclosed this, but an Israeli army spokesperson says the cause of the incident is not known and that the army is looking into the details.
The Israeli military says it is investigating the incident, according to the BBC.
The media office of the Hamas government in Gaza has called the attack on the hospital in the Gaza Strip a “war crime”.
“The hospital was housing hundreds of sick and wounded, and people forcibly displaced from their homes” as a result of other strikes,” Hamas said in a statement.
It added that hundreds of victims are still under the rubble.
Earlier, six people were killed when a school was hit during air strikes in the al-Maghazi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, according to the United Nations.
Dozens of others were injured, and it’s thought the numbers will increase, according to the statement from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
“This is outrageous, and it again shows a flagrant disregard for the lives of civilians. No place is safe in Gaza anymore, not even UNRWA facilities,” it said in a statement.
The Alarmee reports that UNRWA said the hit took place during Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, adding that at least 4,000 people have taken refuge in this UNRWA school turned shelter.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has declared three days of mourning following the air strike on Gaza’s Al Ahli hospital, according to Palestinian state media reports.
