President Bola Tinubu has formally accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, amid allegations levelled against the cabinet member.
Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, tendered his resignation on Tuesday through a letter addressed to the President, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation.
In his letter, the former minister claimed he had been the target of sustained blackmail and political sabotage, which he described as attempts by opponents to tarnish his image and distract him from his duties.
President Tinubu, while accepting his resignation, commended Nnaji for his service to the country and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The development marks the first major ministerial exit from the Tinubu administration since it came into office in May 2023, stirring conversations within political circles about the growing pressure on some cabinet members.
The resignation was confirmed in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, dated October 7, 2025.
