Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rewarded 177 outstanding public servants with five brand new cars and cash gifts totalling N155.5 million, in a move aimed at promoting excellence, diligence and consistency in the state’s public service.
The rewards were announced and presented at the 2025 Mr Governor’s Luncheon with Outstanding Officers of the Lagos State Public Service, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja. The awardees were drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state.
In the senior category, five of the 99 selected officers won brand new cars through a raffle draw, while the remaining 94 received cash prizes of N1 million each. For the junior category, five outstanding officers were awarded N5 million each, while 73 others went home with N500,000 each.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced the promotion of the Director-General, Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, Mrs Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, to the rank of Permanent Secretary. In addition, he approved a N10 million donation to staff of the office in recognition of their contributions to projecting Lagos on the national and global stage.
Speaking at the event, the governor urged public servants to remain diligent, consistent and committed in the discharge of their duties, assuring them that hard work and excellence would always be recognised and rewarded. He encouraged the awardees to sustain their high standards and continue to deliver quality service to the people of Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu described the recognition of outstanding officers as a deliberate policy to reward excellence and motivate others to uphold professionalism and accountability.
He stressed that excellence must be sustained over time, urging public servants to identify their strengths, continually refine their skills and remain focused on service delivery.
The governor noted that the achievements recorded across Lagos State were the result of collective effort, adding that an efficient and motivated public service remained central to effective governance and sustainable development.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, said the 177 awardees in both senior and junior categories were selected after a rigorous and transparent process from 312 nominations submitted by various MDAs.
He commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his consistent support for the welfare and motivation of public servants and urged staff to continue to demonstrate diligence, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.
Agoro added that the luncheon marked the grand finale of activities lined up for the 2025 Public Service Week, which included medical screenings, fitness walks, donations to children with disabilities, long-service awards, a government lecture and talent competitions.
