Ayo Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State, has sent a sharp and public message to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, telling him he “belongs in the zoo.”
The message, which was made public on Monday by Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, came after the former President attended Fayose’s recent birthday celebration.
In the SMS, Fayose criticised Obasanjo for “very irresponsible comments at your age” and said he “kept quiet so the world will know the difference between a sane and a mad man.”
Fayose went further to accuse Obasanjo of losing his sanity, describing his behaviour as “the heightened stage of dementia.”
He also demanded the return of money he claimed Obasanjo had received, noting that it had been handed to him by Dangote.
The message ended with the proverb: “Your leopard will never change his skin.”
Obasanjo responded publicly, keeping his reply brief but firm.
He said Fayose’s message “undisguisedly revealed who and what you are, unchanged and unchangeable.”
He added that the money in question had already been returned “in the same bag as he brought it, unopened by me.”
The SMS exchange underscores the continuing tension and rivalry between the two outspoken political figures.
