Brentford produced one of the shocks of the Premier League weekend as they edged Liverpool 3-2 in a pulsating Premier League encounter at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday night.
The Alarmee reports that this is the fourth straight defeat for Liverpool. They previously lost to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Bees struck first through Dango Ouattara, who capitalised on a chaotic goalmouth scramble to bundle the ball past Giorgi Mamardashvili in the fifth minute.
The early breakthrough set the tone for a frantic contest, with Brentford displaying their trademark high-energy football and punishing Liverpool’s defensive lapses.
Kevin Schade doubled the hosts’ advantage just before half-time, finishing off a swift counterattack from Mikkel Damsgaard’s clever pass in the 45th minute to make it 2-0.
However, Liverpool responded almost immediately through Milos Kerkez, who reacted quickest to a rebound and slotted home to keep his side in the game before the break.
The second half brought more drama. Brentford’s relentless pressure earned them a VAR-reviewed penalty in the 60th minute after Virgil van Dijk was adjudged to have fouled in the box. Igor Thiago calmly converted from the spot to restore a two-goal cushion at 3–1.
Liverpool rallied late on, with Mohamed Salah pulling one back in the 89th minute after linking beautifully with Dominik Szoboszlai, his composed finish rattling in off the crossbar.
But despite the late surge and a series of chances in stoppage time, the Reds could not find the equaliser as Brentford’s defence held firm.
The victory marks a statement performance from Keith Andrews’ side, who continue to defy expectations this season with their fearless approach.
For Arne Slot’s Liverpool, the defeat exposes lingering defensive concerns and halts their momentum in the title chase.
